ABC's "Desperate Housewives" returns this Sunday for its seventh season, and there is sure to be plenty of drama on Wisteria Lane. In addition to the regular cast of characters— Lynette Scavo (Felicity Huffman), Susan Delfino (Teri Hatcher), Gabrielle Solis (Eva Longoria Parker), Bree Hodge (Marcia Cross) and Katherine Mayfair (Dana Delany)—there are a few brand new ones. Vanessa Williams plays the flashy newcomer Renee, an old college friend of Lynette's. Will their friendly rivalry turn into an all-out war? The answer to that is fairly obvious. The final episode of the last season ended with Bree starting to admit to Gabby that her son ran over her mother-in-law. Susan leaves Wisteria Lane because of money troubles but promises to return. Expect to see her often in the latest season; she may be returning to Wisteria Lane sooner than expected. How will the writers integrate her into the storyline if she lives across town? When Susan drives out of the neighborhood and casts a forlorn look at the houses, she doesn't notice Wisteria Lane's newest resident pulling into her old driveway. This means she doesn't realize it's Paul, Mary Alice's suspicious husband from the first season. He's back, and he's sure to bring a lot of drama with him. It is unclear whether he is back because of Mary Alice or to stir up more problems, but maybe he'll give closure to his never-ending storyline. In true "Desperate Housewives" fashion, there are sure to be a lot of twists and turns along the way. And as ridiculous as those twists and turns get (remember that plane that just so happened to land right on Angie's blackmailer?), we continue to watch religiously, even if the show melts our brains. What's going to happen when Gabby finds out about her mother-in-law's murder? Which one of her daughters was switched at birth? And more importantly, why is Paul back in town?
"Desperate Housewives" airs every Sunday at 8/9c on ABC.
