  • Blue Pride Recap 3/30/2011

    SOFTBALL The Blue met with Wheaton College in their double-header NEWMAC opener. Wheaton won the first game 3-0. Wellesley came back in the second game in the afternoon and picked up a 7-6 win.  In the first game
Lauren Goldfarb '13 suffered the loss, striking out four and walking five but not allowing an earned run.

    TRACK The Blue continued its record-setting season at the D-III ECAC Championships in New York, NY.  The team came away with three medalists, three school records, and Leah Clement became the program's first-ever ECAC indoor track champion. Adiba Manning and Camille Basurto also medaled for the Blue.

  • Blue Pride Recap - 3/2/2011

    BASKETBALL Springfield beat Wellesley 72-58 in the New England Women's and Men's Athletic Conference (NEWMAC) Championship Quarterfinals at Springfield College last Wednesday night. This loss ended the Blue's season with a 12-13 record. In the second half the score was 33-all but Springfield's 3-pointer broke the tie and initiated a small lead.

    SQUASH The Blue competed at the 2011 College Squash Association National Championships. They suffered a close 6-3 loss to Smith College. The result places the Blue third in the Epps Cup "D" Division and 28th overall. First-years Rosemary O'Connor and Emma Haley each went undefeated at the Championship and each posted a 3-0 victory.

  • Blue Pride Recap - 2/16/11

    Basketball WPI took a 63-50 victory over visiting Wellesley in a NEWMAC women's basketball contest played on this past Saturday afternoon. Wellesley evens its marks at 11-11 on the season and 8-8 in NEWMAC action. As a team, the Blue grabbed 21 of the 36 second half rebounds but missed all eight of their second half three-point shots.

    Swimming and Diving Saturday in New London, Conn. the swimming and diving team lost to both Connecticut College and Bates College. The Blue lost 201-78 against Connecticut and 193-99 to Bates. The team's overall record is 5-4. Keelin Nave '14 earned second place in the 100-fly (1:02.

  • Blue Pride Recap - 2/2/2011

    Basketball A late basket in the final seconds of overtime pushed Mount Holyoke College to a 48-46 win over the Blue.  See "Basketball fights to the finish in overtime defeat" for extended coverage of the game. Swimming and Diving The Blue swam to victory over Mount Holyoke College this past Saturday afternoon, defeating their NEWMAC-rival 168-127.

  • Blue Pride Recap - 12/1/2010

    Basketball With a career-high 18 points, Ashleigh Sargent '13 led the Blue to a 61-44 victory against Connecticut College this past Sunday Sargent also had six rebounds and four steals in this opening home game of the season.  Malia Maier '13 also had a big game with 15 points and seven rebounds.

    Squash The Blue moved to a 4-0 record with a 5-4 win over Northeastern University last Sunday.  Emma Haley '14 won in the #2 position.  The Blue also got wins in the six through ten positions.  Emaline Surgenor '13, Margot Sulmont '13 and Jennifer Hsu '13 won to set the final match score to 5-4.

    Soccer The Blue's season ended in a 3-1 penalty-kick shoot out against MIT in the NEWMAC Tournament Quarterfinals. The game was a match-up of goalies: the Blue's Sarah Gray '12 and MIT's Meghan Wright each had five saves. After no score in two overtime periods, it went to a shoot out.

  • Blue Pride Recap - 11/3/2010

    Soccer The Blue lost a tough one against Clark 1-0 this past Saturday.  A late goal from Clark's Kristen Murrone snuck  past goalie Sarah Gray '12 for the win. The Blue's best chance came from a shot off the foot of Chelsea-Ann Patry '13, but Clark goalie Joanna Clark made the leaping save.

  • Blue Pride Recap 10/27/10

    Soccer Soccer fell 1-0 to Worcester Polytechnic Institute (WPI) this past Friday.  WPI scored a late goal with 5:25 remaining in the game to steal the win.  The match saw each team attempt eight shots while Wellesley had a 4-1 edge in corner kicks.

  • Blue Pride Recap 10/20/10

    Soccer A 3-0 victory over Smith this past Saturday improves the Blue to 7-6-1, 4-1-1 in NEWMAC play.  Eight minutes into the game, Lena Cardoso '14 fired a shot past the Smith goalkeeper to put Wellesley on the board.  Three minutes later Megan Turchi '13 doubled the score by adding her own goal.
