Lacrosse
Blue lacrosse lost 8-6 to visiting University of New England, bringing Wellesley's season record to 1-1. Players Jenny Holland '11 and Molly Morrow '10 scored twice, and Caitlin Meeker '10 and Allison Robbins '13 also scored goals. Rounding out the offense was the sole assist, which belonged to Morrow. Defensively, Loretta White '10 and Nicole Labbee '11 each had five ground balls. White added three caused turnovers to the effort, and Alyssa Andres '13 led the Blue with three draw controls. Goalie Mary Mattia '11 posted six saves.
Track and Field
Randelle Boots '13 became Wellesley College's first track All-American at the NCAA Division III NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships. Boots took third place in the mile. She finished the run with a time of 4:58.04, placing third behind Marie Borner of Bethel and Lauren Reich of DePauw. She bested runners from Amherst, Colby and Tufts to become the top New England finisher. Boots also qualified for the NCAA Championships in Cross Country where she ranks 82nd overall and ninth among first-years. She ends the season with All-Region, NEWMAC All-Conference and All-Seven Sisters honors.
Tennis
Tennis lost to Middlebury College 6-3 and to New York University 5-3 at this weekend's Middlebury Invitational. Against Middlebury, Marie Watanabe '12, Jacqueline Shen '11 and Meghan Stubblebine '10 picked up wins in singles. Against NYU, the teams Watanabe and Stubblebine and Nathalie Herman '11 and Stephanie Chu '12 both won their doubles matches while Mariya Chokova '13 earned the team's lone singles victory.
Fencing
In a first for the team, eight fencers competed at Sunday's 2010 NCAA Northeast Regionals at Brown University. Highlights included a 17th-place finish for Hannah Braaten '11 in foil and a 21st and 28th-place finish for Annemarie Kocab '10 and Ashley Paquin '11 in épee, respectively.
